The Lourdes events date to 1858 and are associated with St. Bernadette Soubirous at the Grotto of Massabielle in France.
Bernadette was young, poor, and easy for society to dismiss.
Yet the grotto became one of the world's great Christian pilgrimage sites.

Lourdes is known for reported healings, but the shrine's deepest invitation is larger than physical cure:
