The Miraculous Medal devotion begins in Paris in 1830 with St. Catherine Labouré, a young Daughter of Charity.
Its symbolism is remarkably compact: Mary conceived without sin, prayer for those who seek her intercession, rays representing grace, and a call to trust God.
