The Church teaches that Mary, at the completion of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.

Pope Pius XII solemnly defined the dogma in 1950.

Mary's Assumption is unique. Ordinary Christians do not simply “go up exactly like Mary.”

But the mystery is profoundly about our hope.
